You can use Claude to help prepare a fax and send it through DearFax. A direct send requires a working DearFax MCP connection; otherwise, use Claude to prepare your document and finish sending in DearFax’s browser editor.

**Before using the direct connection**

Claude supports remote MCP connectors, but that alone does not establish DearFax compatibility. Direct sending requires enabled DearFax MCP access, an approved Claude client registration, and a successful connection. The full DearFax workflow in Claude has not yet been verified end to end.

## Add the DearFax connector

In Claude, open **Customize → Connectors** and add a custom connector named DearFax. Use the remote server address:

```text
https://app.dearfax.com/api/mcp
```

Connect your account using OAuth and approve the needed draft, sending, and fax-reading permissions. Your organization’s administrator may need to make the connector available first. Follow [Claude’s custom connector instructions](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp) for the controls available to your account.

Ask Claude to list your DearFax workspaces and choose the one that owns the fax. Keep action approvals enabled. See the [DearFax Claude page](https://dearfax.com/claude) for connection guidance.

## Prepare a document Claude can pass to DearFax

A PDF uploaded to Claude is not automatically attached to a DearFax draft. The connection must be able to transfer the file. DearFax’s general MCP attachment path accepts a direct HTTPS download link; a local path or a sharing page that requires interactive sign-in will not work.

If your existing approved document system can issue a short-lived direct download link, use it only for the document you intend to fax. Do not publish sensitive files or paste account credentials into the conversation. If no suitable transfer is available, upload the PDF in DearFax’s authenticated draft editor.

Ask Claude to prepare the fax:

> Use my [workspace name] DearFax workspace. Prepare a fax to [recipient name] at [verified fax number]. Use [document link] and add the cover message [message]. Return the saved draft and its review. Wait for my confirmation before sending.

Check the original PDF for missing fields, signatures, and unreadable scans. DearFax supports US and Canadian destinations; its file limit is 20 MB per file and its fax limit is 350 pages including the cover.

## Review, correct, and confirm

The review should identify the destination, attached files, page count, cover message, and sending number. Open the draft in DearFax if you need to see every page. Do not confirm a draft whose attachment is missing just because Claude has described the intended document.

Request any edits, then ask for a new review. A changed draft invalidates the earlier confirmation, and a review expires after ten minutes. When the final details are correct, explicitly confirm sending that fax.

Your usual workspace allowance and sending eligibility apply. A successful submission can still be Queued or Sending; ask Claude to check the same fax until its stored status gives you a definite outcome.

## Finish in the browser if needed

If the connector cannot authenticate, transfer a file, or complete an action, open [DearFax’s fax composer](https://dearfax.com/send-fax). Upload the finished PDF, enter the verified recipient number, review the cover and pages, and confirm sending there. The [PDF fax guide](https://dearfax.com/guides/how-to-fax-a-pdf) explains each step.

If a send request already ran before the connection failed, check the existing draft and Sent activity first. Do not create another copy until you know whether the first fax was submitted.

After Delivered appears, you can request a receipt. Delivery confirms the receiving fax system accepted the transmission, not that a person read it.
