Frequently asked questions
Faxing with Gemini
This page is for the Gemini app. Set up DearFax as a custom app in Gemini’s web interface, then use it in a conversation. You do not need Gemini CLI or a terminal. The connection still requires OAuth registration with DearFax and end-to-end verification.
Google currently limits custom apps to personal Google Accounts for adults in the US, with English and Keep Activity enabled. Work and school accounts are not currently supported. Check those requirements if the custom app option is missing from Connected Apps.
Use the client credentials arranged with DearFax in Gemini’s Advanced features during custom app setup. These are connection credentials, not your DearFax password. Enter them in the setup fields, not in a chat message, then follow the sign-in and consent steps.
After connecting, type @ and choose DearFax in your conversation. Ask Gemini to list your workspaces and select one. To prepare a fax, provide the recipient’s number and a document through a supported transfer or direct HTTPS download link. Gemini attachment transfer to DearFax has not yet been verified.
Open Connected Apps in Gemini’s web settings and turn off the DearFax custom app. Remove the custom app if you also want to unlink its MCP server from your Google Account. To block all assistants at once, turn off MCP access in DearFax under Account settings → Integrations.
